Report from April’s Annual General Meeting

The 38 church members who attended the AGM enjoyed a lunch of jacket potatoes with various fillings and a wonderful choice of sweets and our thanks go to Gordon and Myra for supplying such a splendid meal.

It was agreed to make two recommendations to the June Church Council.

  • That Trinity will become a Fair Trade Church  that is any church organisation will only serve fair-traded tea, coffee and sugar
  • That a donation to Oxford Place Childrens Centre of £25 be made in this there 25 year of operation.

Sadly we were not able to appoint a new steward to replace Gordon Claughton but we hope that someone may consider that God is calling them to this position. Brenda Chapman was appointed as a representative to church Council and will serve for 6 years.

Discussion took place as to how welcoming we are as a church and we watched a short video about “Hope 08”

Ministry in the Castleford Circuit

Rev Wayne Grewcock from the Pontefract and Normanton Circuit has agreed to come to Castleford in September 2008. He will work part-time as he already works for a company called “Twelve Baskets” which produces resources for worship via the internet and also material for school assemblies.

Wayne’s main remit will be with the Café Project, he will work elsewhere in the circuit but will not have Pastoral Charge of any of the churches.

The Circuit Staff and Stewards are looking to employ a Lay worker and as it stands at the moment it would appear that our superintendent Minister Rev Robin Fox will have the overall responsibility for Trinity.
